Hayoti
[tahrir | manbasini tahrirlash]Janubiy Melburnda tugʻilgan, cherkov musiqachisi — Avliyo Pol soborida organchi va omborchi Valter JamesTurner va Elis Meyning oʻgʻli boʻlib, Karlton shtat maktabi, Shotlandiya kolleji va ishchilar kollejida tahsil olgan.[2][3] 1907-yilda u yozuvchilik faoliyatini davom ettirish uchun Angliyaga joʻnab ketdi.[2] U yerda u bir qator adabiy ziyolilar, jumladan Zigfrid Sassoon, Virjiniya Vulf, Vita Sakvil-Vest va Ledi Ottoline Morrell bilan uchrashdi va doʻstlashdi (uning "Aesthetes " kitobidagi karikaturasi ularning doʻstligini tugatdi). 1918-yil 5-aprelda Chelsida u Delfin Marguerit Dyubuisga uylandi (1951-yilda vafot etgan).[2] Birinchi jahon urushidan 1930-yillarning oʻrtalarigacha boʻlgan davrda u birinchi navbatda shoir sifatida tanilgan. Uning 1916-yilda yozgan " Romansi " („Chimborazo, Cotopaxi….“) sheʼrlari ichida eng yaxshi esda qolgani bo‘lgan.
Bugungi kunda Tyorner bir nechta roman va pyesalar, shuningdek, sheʼrlar kitoblarini yaratgan boʻlsa-da, uning obroʻsi kompozitorlar Motsart, Betxoven va Berliozning tarjimai holiga bogʻliq. Uning Motsarti 1938-yilda birinchi marta nashr etilganidan beri koʻp marta qayta nashr etilgan.
Turner pianinochi Artur Shnabelning yaqin doʻsti boʻlib, u haqida tez-tez yozgan va u bilan tez-tez sayrga chiqqan. Turner, uning rafiqasi va Sassoon 1925-yilda Sassoon koʻchib ketgunga qadar Londondagi 54-sonli Tufton koʻchasidagi uyda birga yashagan. Shundan soʻng, u Tyorner bilan shunchalik yomon munosabatda boʻlib qoldiki, u oʻz tarjimai holida u haqida hech narsa aytmadi. Ikkinchi jahon urushi paytida u „Britaniya rasmlarda“ qisqa tasvirlangan kitoblar turkumining bosh muharriri boʻlib, u uchun musiqa va balet boʻyicha jildlarni yozgan va yettita omnibus jildni tahrir qilgan. 1946-yil 18-noyabrda u Hammersmitda miya trombozi tufayli vafot etdi.[2]
